Easy or Hard?

When you are young, it’s usually easy to make friends. You just walk up to someone who looks friendly and start talking. Most small children do not feel self-conscious or awkward about meeting new people. Things change, though, when children become teens. A lot more thought goes into the process. Sometimes insecurities can overcome them, and they hesitate before talking to someone new. They worry that the person won’t like them for some reason.

Although some make friends easily, for most people making friends is a skill. Just like practicing on the piano, your ability to make friends will improve the more you work at it.
